popey version 2.5

The latest point-release of popey is now available. 9 months and one day in the making, released today..

Welcome to this world Sam Michael Pope, he was born on 6th September 2006 at 13:32 BST.

A right bruiser, weighing in at an eye-watering 9lb 13.5oz (that's 4.47Kg for metric fans), both he and mother are fit, well and healthy, if a little tired.

Time for a beer I think.

Congratulations

Congratulations popey :D

Congratulations

All the very best to Clare (who obviously did all the hard work, and through one of the warmest parts of the year too!), yourself, Sophie and of course little Sam. My very limited experience (gleaned from watching my sister from afar) is that number 2 is a little easier to handle than number 1 (less of a learning curve), but that the real fun comes with number 3 ;-)

Congratulations

Congratulations to all parties involved! So is the 2nd as exiting as the 1st??

No so far off for us now, can't wait

It's quite remarkable..

..how relaxed / confident I am with the second than the first. I think I need a whole blog entry about this.. watch this space :)

It's definately different having two, some parts are less impressive, some bits are waay better second time round. The experience you gain from #1 is so worthwhile for #2.

Good luck!

Congratulations....

Well done sir!!

You are now officially nuclear ....... or something.... :-)
All the best to Clare, Sam and Sophie and yourself, you must be really proud!

I'm having a beer for you now,
catch up soon,

Nige...........

Not quite sure..

Where to get the "point five" of the "two point 5 kids". Maybe the 2 cats count?

Thanks for the lovely flowers/booze/teddy triple-whammy prezzie Nige, much appreciated!

Congratualtions mate

Fantastic news young man. My best to Clare (who did all the hard work).

Time for a beer indeed!

Indeed

Clares Father took me out for beers this evening. We put the world to rights in the pub and came home to sing Jerusalem out of tune with the Last Night of The Proms :)

Grats

Major version 2, minor version 5?

Please tell me you're not keeping gene sequences in subversion.

I wasn't sure..

I didn't give him a revision number until he was born. I figured he was different enough from Sophie to warrant a "point five" but not so different (twelve toes and two heads for example) to warrant version three..

Congratulations! :o)

Congrats to you all!!

Sam shares my birthday! :o)

I have been informed..

..that he's actually called Samuel! But apparently we will be calling him Sam. I guess "Sam Michael" is harder to say than "Samuel Michael", plus "Sam Michael" sounds distinctly like a Spanish beer.

Which isn't altogether a bad thing. Especially given I nearly managed to get Clare to call Sophie "Stella" - now if I could only have got her to take the second name of "Artois" then she'd have had the dubious honour of having been named after fizzy belgian piss, but also having the initials of crap bloated german software :)

Excellent!

Hail and Welcome Sam! ..and congratulations you two. Let the fun begin, again :)

Arf!

I can just picture you saying "Hail!" weraring some kind of druid-get-up :) Thanks Ciemon - appreciated!

Congratulations

Thought I should better record my congrats for posterity. Pass good wishes and prayers onto Mrs Popey too.

Will do!

She was impressed at the number of lovely comments here. Thanks everyone!

Congratulations

Congratulations!

Sept. 6th

The Day GNOME 2.16 was released... hum hum...

Congrats, popey, long life to Sam...

A double-whammy!

Can Sept 6th get any better!? Maybe I should have called him Gnome or gtk or something.

Congratulations!

Congrats! May popey 2.5 follow in your footsteps.

Is that really wise :)

I mean, do we really want *another* fat geek on the planet who barks on about open source software until others puke?

Congrats to all! "SMP",

Congrats to all! "SMP", hmm. "Symmetric Multi-Processing"? The child has two brains?? ;-)

There's room in that head

for two!

And "The Man With Two Brains" is one of my fave films :)

Congratulations!

Congratulations to you both! I'm having a beer to celebrate. Lots of love to you, Clare, Sophie and Sam!

Congratulations!

I'm glad it finally arrived, but did the curry / kitchen cleaning etc help?

difficult to say

Cleaning the kitchen floor, a brisk walk the night before, a good cry the morning after.. Who knows..
